My South Sudanese name is Galé, which traditionally means “the refused” or “the rejected.” At first glance, this might seem like an odd way to describe oneself, but I choose to embrace its deeper significance. To be “refused” or “rejected” is not a limitation—it’s an opportunity for transformation. These moments have shaped me into someone who values resilience, authenticity, and the courage to keep moving forward despite obstacles. In life, I’ve learned that rejection is not the end, but rather a redirection, a chance to refine my path and grow stronger. In everything I do, I channel this energy into creating something meaningful, whether it’s through my work, my passions, or my personal journey. I believe that the power lies in what you do after the rejection: you adapt, you innovate, and you rise. I started this business because of my passion for fragrance and the way that it can create a calming and relaxing atmosphere. Ever since I was a child, I have been drawn to the power of scent. I would spend hours smelling different perfumes and candles, trying to identify the various notes and scents. As I got older, I became more interested in the therapeutic benefits of fragrance, and how certain scents can help to calm the mind and reduce stress.
